Next YAA meeting features the legendary Chris Turner as guest lecturer. Mark down September 16 in your diary. Chris is presenting on "Cycles with a Lunar Phase emphasis" which will add to anyone's astro knowledge predictively.
Chris has been teaching astrology in Sydney and around the globe since the seventies and her talk is definitely one not to be missed! For more info and to reserve your space visit http://www.cassandratyndall.com/
Ah the skies offer up more and more right now. The New Moon Sunday falls at 6 Virgo, close to wise old Saturn. Themes of maturity, responsibility, limits and reality are likely to arise, infused with the good old Virgo desire for order, ritual and routine. Endings and beginnings are negotiated now as what's possible takes priority over what you'd like. Saturn is about time and when triggered often has people expressing, "It's time ......." Whether for you that means starting something new or creating boundaries that lead to space, drawing those proverbial lines in the sand that mark the separation of one chapter to another becomes super important this weekend.
The next 24 hours are equally about Moon in Cancer themes - home, family, protection and safety, as well as Uranus themes - freedom and flexibility, as the Moon in Cancer makes a trine to Uranus in Pisces.
Mercury and Venus are also on the move and hit up planetary power man Pluto in the next 48 hours. Words have influence now so speak confidently about the things that matter most. Venus/ Pluto is often a seductive time where desire around attachment or beauty overrides other goals.
By the time the New Moon rolls around Sunday, both Venus and Mercury will have glided out of Virgo and into Libra. In this dark moon time, the Moon also aligns with the south node. The end of the moon phase is always a time of release, but with planets changing signs and the south node showing up expect the purging to particularly potent in the next few days.
The skies offer new promises and commitments to lead you onwards and underworlds (Sun and New Moon with Saturn) but first you must reduce your baggage. (A little like flying into LA on one airline with a high baggage limit, but then having to magical drop your baggage weight before changing to an internal US flight - who knows where they think the stuff goes!). What weight have you been carrying that you are ready to set down now?

The Moon is in curious and conversation loving Gemini and will soon align with Uranus, Venus and Mercury. Ideas and information fly around as the strong air element is enhanced. As you put your thoughts out there, remember biology - you have two ears and one mouth, so make the effort to listen twice as much as you speak now!
The Sun has entered detailed Virgo and the solar energy is now grounded and focussed on practical outcomes. A ‘to do' list, flow chart or step-by-step plan works a treat under this energy. We are in the shadow of the third quarter moon phase, a time of questioning direction and reorientation. If there are subtle shifts you need to make, especially if they further align your actions with what you believe, now is the time.
And (to play the archetypal role of messenger so appropriate with the Gemini Moon) - if you're looking for an astro themed social night, why not catch this play? Saturn's Return - http://www.sydneytheatre.com.au/Performance.asp?pID=253

Moon in Aries
The lunar vibe is about action and getting things done. Aries is impatient and full of energy. The current Moon phase is about consolidation so what you put energy into in the next 48 hours is likely to be about creating firm ground. Aries is about ‘I' and it's this sign that holds the cosmic me first/ selfish angle. With conscious awareness make the next 48 hours about doing what's right for you.
Mars is in now in ‘you first' Libra making working together a more possible scenario -well it will once the Aries Moon energy subsides later in the week!
Mercury and Venus align in Mercury's sign, Virgo, making it easier to sort out details or practical concerns regarding relationships and money. Sweet words and practical promises are likely under this link as ideas and communication (Mercury) connect with values, bonding and style (Venus). Talk about your relationship or fashion ideas now; communication is a key part of connection, but especially so when Venus and Mercury are together.

Venus, principle of unification, style and beauty
Ruler of Taurus and Libra
August 19
In the next couple of hours the Moon aligns with Uranus, planet of chaos. "Expect the unexpected" as your experiences and/or insights could catch you by surprise. Then in about 12 hours the Moon aligns with power planet Pluto. Try to avoid controlling tendencies and instead think about you could use your power to inspire others.
Tonight energy planet Mars moves out of detail loving Virgo and into partnership focused Libra. The passion for order, routine and physical perfection that's driven the past six weeks settles as it becomes more important to fight for harmony, justice or equality, especially in relationships. Tomorrow life is about balance.
The Moon is in Pisces all day, so if you embrace your feelings and follow your heart, you'll find the best way forward becomes clear. And if all else fails, you can just daydream the day away!

Full Moon Eclipse - A deeper look
As winter gives way to the signs of early spring, (I'm already noticing the scent of fresh jasmine filling the crisp morning air), the sky offers the perfect setting for letting go. Tonight's Full Moon eclipse aligns with soulful Neptune, drawing strong emotions to the surface. As everyone finds it easier to access the deeper resources of sensitivity within (on all levels), your ability to find a compassionate attitude to what's happening in your life grows.
Letting go and letting flow is what this Aquarius Lunar Eclipse is all about. Themes of independence and individuality are potent, as the desire to remain yourself no matter what the circumstances is hard to deny. What radical choice or action could you take to remain authentic to the self first?
This is a watershed time as connections to a past that no longer fulfils you are washed away. Like a damn breaking after holding strong for so long, things are released with relief now. That great big breath you've been holding? It's time to exhale. You're safe and the future awaits.
Neptune is a powerful force and reflects strong passion aroused by emotion. As the sea tosses and turns in a storm, hearts toss over their truth at times like these. Celebrations full of heart are likely (after all the Sun is in party loving Leo!); but the cosmic party rules apply - with both a Full Moon and strong Neptune influence, everyone gets ‘under the influence' much more easily than usual. Imbibe your drug of choice (that includes alcohol) slowly if you are in the party mode in the next couple of days. With the current strong escapist themes it's easier to detach from reality than usual!
Intuitions, vague recollections and half formed visions are likely to appear under this eclipse. Take note of what you can and explore these inner-tuitions once the cosmic wave recedes next week.

Full Moon August 17 7.16am AEST 24 degrees Aquarius Lunar Eclipse
Even though the Full Moon is in Aquarius the dominant energy is Virgo with Saturn, Mercury, Venus and Mars all vibrating through that sign. The Leo/ Aquarius Full Moon is about finding a way to hold the authentic you even as you rise in standing in different areas of your life. With the strong Virgo emphasis this is likely to happen smoothly if you approach matters one little detail at a time. Objective analysis helps you see the facts as they are, not as you'd like them to be. A precise and ordered approach helps you keep life on an even keel.

The Sun has just passed the South Node, a point of letting go. This 24 hour period each year is ideal for release. If you need to complete any ‘purge and purify' rituals now's the time! Doing so helps you create more solidarity and stronger foundations around love or money as Venus aligns with Saturn in the next day or so. Relationship or financial reality checks are likely as Saturn helps bring you back down to earth about what's happening in your heart, what you value or your bank balance. Keep it real and focus on facts rather than fantasy.
The sky offers a visual spectacular now as the Moon, almost full (the lunar eclipse is this weekend!) passes close by twinkling Jupiter. Traditions (Capricorn) and rituals (Jupiter) of the earth (Capricorn) are in focus now. Shamanism, pagan beliefs and ancient wisdom are easily accessible. The way things were matters, but go back further than the recent past. Ye olde wisdom is reflected in Capricorn and as Jupiter marches through the sign of the mystical sea goat in 2008 you get a bigger taste of the traditional beliefs of older cultures and races. The next couple of days, as the big, bright Moon aligns with Jupiter brings all these themes to the forefront of your life.

What's the meaning of your life?

The Moon is in adventurous Sagittarius creating a double fire signature with the Sun in Leo. It's certainly a time of action and exploration. New horizons beckon. What will you do to follow your big picture vision now?
With all three personal planets (Mercury, Venus and Mars) in details loving Virgo, the little things do matter. Hearts and heads are full of long range vision (courtesy of the Sun/ Moon fire focus) but with all this grounded Virgo energy the day-to-day aspect of life also needs attention. Put energy (fire) into doing all those pressing little practical things (earth).
Carefully planned action can create real progress. Where can your energy be best directed for change now?

Mercury opposite Neptune - facts and figures can be misleading as Neptune's hazy energy creates some confusion, especially around organizing or planning. Take time to daydream and leave the detailed scheduling until the weekend when Mercury becomes super focused in one of his own signs, Virgo.
Venus trine Pluto - romance intensifies as Pluto entices you to share more, go deeper and explore secrets with significant others. This is a social, upbeat connection across the fire signs and luxury appeals. Venus moves into Virgo Wednesday when things become more practical. Live it up beforehand!
Mars opposite Uranus - this unpredictable combination creates energy and some chaos to help you explore new directions. Alternative options appeal as breaking away from the crowd becomes necessary. Freedom is imrtpoant so be respectful of other's perspectives and views. Desire (Mars) clashes with the planet of rebellion (Uranus) and doing what you want (Mars) may mean going out on your own (Uranus).
First Quarter Moon
The Moon in Scorpio mid week marks the first dynamic aspect in the current Moon cycle (which is all the more potent as we are currently between eclipses). The first quarter Moon phase is about energy and is a time of action. There can be friction in life now as you become of what areas of your life require attention and adjustment. Any frustration you do experience acts as a catalyst encouraging you to address whatever has been simmering. Get energized and get moving!

New Moon Eclipse - Tonight!
The New Moon eclipse occurs tonight (info below). The next 12 hours or so, leading up to the eclipse, are potent and charged with energy. It is time to release; to purge and purify. Emptiness openness up into bright tomorrows but first space must be created. Tempers may be short as everyone picks up on the increased energy at this time. Astrologer Jeanni Monks recommends lots of showers, baths and swims at eclipse time to re-balance the positive and negative ions around your physical body.
What will you empty, literally or figuratively, to create more space for creation in your life?
This quote, by Lao Tzu, may inspire you;
"We make a vessel from a lump of clay;
It is the empty space within the vessel that makes it useful.
We make doors and windows for a room;
It is these empty spaces that make the room livable.
Thus, while the tangible has advantages,
It is intangible that makes it useful."
New Moon 1 August 8.12pm AEST 9 degrees Leo Solar Eclipse
According to eclipse expert Bernadette Brady, this powerful eclipse "concerns itself with breaking out of a very negative situation where no hope can be seen to a more positive space containing many options". You can read more about eclipses in her book "Predictive Astrology". She goes on to say, "a worry that has been affecting a person will suddenly clear. The solution is shown by the cosmos and needs to be taken up without too much delay". This eclipse reflects the energy from July 1990 and you may revisit themes and issues in your life now that you dealt with back then.

Dark Moon/ Dark Night
Today's Moon in Cancer vibe encourages retreat and reflection as we enter the dark Moon period before Friday's eclipse. There is literally no celestial light visible through the night time now as the Moon slips out of sight. With no cosmic light drawing you out, it's time to go within,
The past 48 hours have been about ‘bits and pieces' as the Moon moved through communication focused Gemini. I asked my Gemini sister what she was up to for the day on Monday and her reply summed things up nicely, "Bits and pieces". After getting back from my morning walk, (on which I stopped by the post box myself) she had set herself up in the kitchen, piles of papers everywhere. The phone rang hot as we both got through calls and follows ups. Did you get on top of your inbox, phone call list and communication pile Monday/ Tuesday?
Wednesday and Thursday are softer and more introspective. Family time and home themes feature as the Moon moves through Cancer. Step back and turn your attention inwards. This period in the Moon cycle is about letting go of the old as much as it is about inner preparation for the next cycle. With the upcoming new Moon being an eclipse, things are a little more dramatic and chaotic than usual.
In the next 24 hours the Moon aligns with Jupiter and Mars creating a proactive (Mars) and busy (Jupiter) energy. Moon/ Jupiter days are the ones where you plan more than is usually possible, but with Mars around you have a better chance of getting it done this month. Just don't wear yourself out!
Communication planet Mercury is now with the Sun in Leo, reinforcing the confident, ‘get it off your chest NOW' vibe. Venus explores enchantment, especially romantically, as she dances with soulful, sometimes vague Neptune. Relationships have a surreal quality.

The Moon rules Cancer and reflects 'inner-tuition'
July 26
You may know The Invitation http://www.oriahmountaindreamer.com/ by Oriah Mountain Dreamer. She also wrote The Call and The Dance. Reading The Dance last night I rediscovered one of my favorite passages, in a chapter called "Dancing on the Earth"
"Take me to the places on the earth that teach you how to dance,
The places where you can risk letting the world break your heart,
And I will take you to the places where the earth beneath my feet
And the stars overhead make my heart whole again and again."
Since it's an earthy Moon in Taurus weekend it's ideal for remembering or reconnecting with the physical spaces that make your heart sing. Taurus is a sign of the body and symbolises the physical world. This 48 hour period each month is ideal for honouring your physical needs - rest appropriately, move your body and eat nourishing foods. Touch and tactile pleasures feature. It is the time each month to have a massage or some other kind of beauty/ body treatment. There is nothing complex about the desires of Taurus so keep it simple and focus on the basics.
The Taurus Moon aligns with the Leo Sun creating a third quarter Moon. This time of the Moon phase is about questioning. Why do you do the things you do? Are your actions aligned with your beliefs? Radical changes and choices are possible at this time of the moon cycle if you dare to let your faith inform you.
The second eclipse season for 2008 began July 23, when the Sun got to within 18 degrees of the nodes. It runs until August 29. In that time, any new and full moons that occur will be eclipses. The New Moon/ Solar eclipse is August 2 and the Full Moon/ Lunar eclipse is August 16. I have got advance posts about these up on http://www.peacefulwillow.com/spirituallife.html. Eclipses themselves are powerful portends of change; but the entire eclipse season is usually a little more chaotic than usual. Flash forwards are possible as energetic portals open offering you a glimpse of your future. The New Moon/ Solar eclipse on August 2 is aligned with the South Node suggesting current flash forwards have a lot to do with releasing the past.
July 24
It's a day To Get Things Done
The Moon is in energetic Aries and the Sun now in charming Leo. Both Aries and Leo are fire signs and fire signs are about action. Aries represents the impulse, the spark, the lighting of the match; Leo is the flame that burns through time. Today is about combining spark with endurance and channeling your energy into starting things you want to last.
A double fire signature, like today's, encourages movement, action and decisiveness. Get things done. Power through your ‘to do' or checklist. Fire brings the courage to do what you've been planning, thinking about or procrastinating over.
Tackle challenges with renewed confidence; it's a ballsy kind of day out there. What will you do with the energy surge?

I'm writing Lovescopes until the end of August - enjoy them while you can!
July 22
On this morning's walk through the suburbia of my childhood, I was struck by the stand out beauty of the Magnolia tree. Being winter here in Sydney, many plants are bare and those aren't are simply green. The Magnolia tree is the contradiction - bare branched and not a green leaf in sight, but with boughs are full of white, pink and purple coloured flowers. The contrast of this vivid colour against the bare branched gums is hard to miss. It turns out these trees are from an ancient linage, that evolved to be pollinated by beetles because they were around before bees! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnolia
I offer this random thought to you as we go into a Moon/Mercury/Uranus day. Over the next 24 hours, the Moon in Pisces passes over Uranus (also in Pisces) as Mercury (in Cancer) makes a supportive trine link to Uranus. Mercury is about the mind and symbolizes thoughts, communication and ideas. Uranus reflects the rebellious archetype; the unconventional and anything different, exotic or unusual. The Moon reflects insight and inner knowing.
Put it all together and you have a unique 24 hour period where flashes of insight lead to new understandings; where breakthrough technologies help you connect more easily and where your mind can actually consider anything to be possible.
Opening the mind is the first step towards opening your life into a fuller expression of it's potential. Conversations, books and information all help stimulate your mind to explore out-of-the-ordinary possibilities now. Surprises and random encounters aren't all that random really - not when you start seeing your life through the lens of inspired consciousness. What radical concept are you willing to believe?

The importance of July + August 2008
You've heard all about Saturn in Virgo - why it's important + how it's changing things, especially for the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces). Through July and August, Mars (energy, action) also moves through Virgo, aligning with Saturn (responsibility, maturity, limits), creating arguably the stand out period of the entire Saturn in Virgo transit (September 07 - October 09).
For about 6 weeks (July 2 - August 20 2008) both Mars and Saturn energise Virgo and the long term changes Saturn is pushing for receive a cosmic kick/ energy boost from enthusiastic, must-do-it-now Mars. Whatever house area holds Virgo in your birth chart will be the area of life to focus on for maximum impact and lasting change throughout July and August.
Don't know your birth chart? Think about the key issue or life theme you're currently questioning and reviewing. The Saturn in Virgo energy started in September 2007, so it's likely the things that hit your radar then are part of it to. If you're really focussed or working hard on something, that's likely to be it. Or try some DIY astrology at http://www.astro.com/
Generally Saturn in Virgo is about mastering healthy living, getting organised and learning to love routines. There is a pure streak here that demands clean living, freshness and absolutely no chemicals or toxic stuff anywhere. Saturn in Virgo also strikes me as a ‘back to basics' energy where simplicity rules. As Mars joins Saturn through July + August this will be the ideal time for streamlining, de-cluttering or a physical fast or detox as well as implementing and maintaining solid boundaries. IE putting a structure (Saturn) in place that helps you get what you want (Mars).
It's really about clarity in life and renewed focus on the goals that matter. Saturn and Mars are an excellent combination as Mars brings energy and action and Saturn offers long term discipline and determination. All in all, a brilliant blend for lasting, long term success! But first the focus, and that's what makes July and August so important - they're about focussing.
